About Kapaa Kauai

Kapaa Kauai is located in the Kauai County, in the Kapaa metro area. Kauai is the fourth largest island of Hawaii. The city was established in 19th century as a plantation town. Along the main street are lined a variety of antique shops and unique restaurants and cafes. The attractions venues are unlimited here.

Kapaa Kauai is home to some of the finest and challenging golf courses in the world. You can explore the area on the scenic trails that follow along the coast riding a horse. Kappa Kauai is the attraction spot for the fishing lovers, both freshwater and saltwater anglers. On Kauai's south and east coasts can be found an abundance of marlin, ahi, ono, and aku.

If you enjoy hiking there's a lot of ground that waits to be explored on foot. The best three trails are: The Kukui Trail, The Kuilau Ridge Trail and The Kalalau Trail. A long the southern shore, where waters are calmer and clearer tourists can practice scuba diving. Between Wailua and Kapaa can been seen the Sleeping Giant (Nounou Mountain). But the best viewing of the "giant" is across the street from the Chevron in Kapaa Kauai.

Near Kapaa Kauai is situated Lumahai Beach Park, a beautiful semicircle of white sand surrounded by blue waves and limited by black lava cliffs. Swimming at the beach is dangerous.

In the surroundings of Kapaa Kauai is located the Limahuli Garden and Preserve where are included the rare and endangered species such as: Pritchardia limahuliensis, a native fan palm; Brighamia insignis which grew only on the sea cliffs of Kauai and Ni'ihau; Munroidendron racemosum, that is so rare that its Hawaiian name has been lost to time; and Hibiscus waimeae which was once thought extinct until it was rediscovered in the back of Limahuli Valley.

This city and its surroundings were the filming location for 1993 movie, "Jurassic Park", 1981 movie, "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and 1998 movie, "Six Days Seven Nights".
