Santa Fe is a town founded in 1800 and situated in Los Angeles County in southern California at 33.93 degrees north from the equator and 118.06 degrees west from the prime meridian (33.937443, -118.067155). Its name means "Holy Faith" and it was inspired from the name of the company Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway. Santa Fe Springs is a member of the Gateway Cities Council of Governments.

The restored no. 870 locomotive symbolizes the importance of the railroads in the Southern California region.
